The
invite to this event
NYAN finished first in it's division, and then went on to win semi-finals and finals in straight matches
and then barely lost in the championship round against the other division
On FTCstats, NYAN ranked #1 at this tournament out of both divisions!
(Unknown Element #2, and Turbocharged #3)
Our division being significantly weaker (see scouting below), this was a major feat!
Everything went well today. All scores over 300, and several over 400.
NYAN played 13 matches in total, and nothing major broke, also a major feat!
We beat the state high score 5 times, and are in the top 10 in the world high scores,
and the combined score in the championship final was highest in the world
NYAN won the coveted Innovate Award
NYAN qualified for the world chanpionship because of finishing #1 and winning its division,
and double qualified with the Innovate Award. It was the only 1 of 2 teams to double qualify.
NYAN was runner-up for the Control Award
We were an obvious candidate for this award, but always excited to be recognized.
Thank you to all the parents and families, especially those who volunteered (the Illinois league coordinator
made special note to me again, and gave a sincere thanks... they have had trouble this year getting enough people),
and to all who contributed food (especially Allen Mons Sr. who bought our lunches), and to
Jeff Coda (alumn coach) whose booth we borrowed, and1 of the creators of the team who came back from
college to supprt the team, Danny Donahoe.
Thanks to all of our
sponsors, most of all Carmel Catholic High School.
